About Us
The Shady Nook Recreation Centre is located in Laurentian Valley. The rec centre was built in 1977 by a group of dedicated volunteers.
The recreation centre features a beautiful hall that can be used for weddings, anniversary parties, birthday parties, stag and does and any other function. The centre can hold up to 225 people. We have a fully equipped kitchen and Wifi as well as a projector and sound system.
Shady Nook Recreation Centre has a fully functional outdoor hockey rink as well as soccer fields.
We believe in teaching children the skills of the sport as well as good sportsmanship. We want children to build their confidence in a safe and welcoming environment while having fun and meeting new friends.
General Information
Executive meetings
Held the first Monday of each month, all interested community members are welcome.
Seniors meeting
The first Thursday of the month (excluding July, August and December).
Organized soccer
Soccer for children 3-14 is held each summer. All children from the area are welcome.
Sponge puck hockey
Organized sponge puck hockey for children 5-16 is held each winter. All children from the area are welcome.
Community Hall
Shady Nook also has a community hall which is available to the public.
Rent Special Groups
We offer a special flat rate of $75 to churches, schools, and other groups.
